Welcome to Second Grade!!!
This is going to be a fun filled, productive year. Seriously, it is going to be awesome!!! But, in order to do our best learning, we need some school supplies.

Friday-Read a story with someone!
In Language Arts, we will begin Unit 2 on r controlled vowels. Our current story is "Dogs" with a grammar skill of the four types of sentences. Writer's Workshop is about narrative writing as we work on "An Early Memory". (We're writing it on our computers!) On the menu for Math is Chapter 1 on addition and subtraction facts. Religion finds us finishing Chapter 2 on God's Best Gift with a test on Friday, October 3rd. Science is all about living and non living things as we finish Chapter 1 with a test on Wednesday, October 1st. We will then begin Chapter 2 on the types of animals. Social Studies brings us basic geography with the continents and oceans which we will finish with a test on Monday, September 29th. Government is next!

Reminders:
Students may bring in an afternoon snack each day.
Remember to charge computers every night.
Make sure your child has some quiet reading books in school.
Students should bring pencils home weekly to sharpen.
Please make sure your child has a water bottle in school.- Wednesday, October 1st is Picture Day!
